Review System Attack
Risk level:
Low
Impact level:
Low to Moderate

Flagging positive reviews as spam, with the intent of getting them removed, will lower your target’s overall reputation score and can reduce both its conversion rates and its exposure to the public. This tactic is more effective with privately operated review platforms than it is with the Google My Business system, as Google handles mass-reporting in a different way to third-party operators.

Defense

As with most Review System Attacks, there’s no actual defense against this approach, because you’re relying on Google and the other review platform operators to detect and filter malicious reviews and mass-reporting from their systems.
